This is because we used the free wordpress.com option allowing wordpress to control how the pages are viewed on mobile devices, software upgrades as well as backing up the information. We kept the old website function as well as added additional information.
You can visit to view past sermons, newsletters(including a PDF version), media photos (provided by Dave D.), our church calendar, as well as additional information on special events, Helping Hands outreach, youth programs and more…. Prayer requests can also be submitted online.

X-Days Weekend of June 25, 26
X Days Community Service Day is a way to “eXternally” be the church while serving others. It unifies area churches under one common mission, to build relationships and spread God’s love by being the hands and feet example of Christ’s love. In the past 3 years, hundreds of volunteers from churches making up the Faith Alliance Collaboration have served at sites all over West Chester, Liberty Twp., Hamilton, Middletown, Mason, and Cincinnati. Projects were performed for many individuals as well as sites such as One Way Farm, Gettysburg Estates, nursing homes, schools, and many more.
This year Compass Christian will again be a part of this community service in the weeks leading up to and including the weekend of June 25–26.
Under consideration this year is a project to build a ramp for a self-supporting single lady who is a cancer survivor, suffers from multiple sclerosis, has sustained back injury due to falls, must use a walker, and finds it very difficult to negotiate steps.
Our congregation has the talent for the design and construction and completed a similar project two years ago for another individual with very good success.
Christian Men’s Fellowship would like to sponsor this project, has certain funds dedicated to helping others in the community, and would like to propose the following challenge to us all.
CMF would match any contributions donated by Compass Christian Church members and friends to cover the cost of the construction materials. If the plans are approved by the person mentioned above and no hindrances to the project are realized, we would then address the matching funds process.
For those here who would like to participate in X Days in other ways, Faith Alliance will soon be notifying us of areas of endeavor where member congregations will be needing help in projects they are undertaking. As information comes in, I will be posting such along with whom to contact and where. —Ed V.
X-Day, Sunday, June 26. Worship at 8:30 a.m., followed by service projects, one of which will entail building and installing a wheelchair ramp. Material costs will range from $850-$1000 unless we can materials donated. Please note: the Christian Men’s Fellowship group has agreed to match funds for every dollar given by the congregation. Volunteers are needed to help build the ramp prior to the installation date of June 26. Contact Dave D. for more information.
Contact Dave D. for more info.
in 2015, there were close to 1,000 volunteers from ten churches who served at more than 90 different projects all over Butler, Warren and Hamilton Counties helping others all in the name of Christ. Wednesday Night Open Table Conversations
With the adult choir on hiatus in summer, we’ll be offering an opportunity to connect more broadly and deeply with one another from June through August.
As Disciples of Christ we have an “open table” practice welcoming all who trust Christ to his table. We offer this each Sunday, and invite you to come midweek for another kind of open table with food, faith, and fun.
Just BYOD (Bring Your Own Dinner), a willingness to make new friends, and engage in conversations that help us better understand one another, Scripture, our community, and our denominational tradition.
Saturday May 21, 9:00 a.m. @Union Center Marriott
All are invited for a hearty buffet breakfast at the River City Grille. We’ll be discussing X-day projects, summer activities, and future meeting schedules. For more info contact Ed V.
Calling All Gardeners
Gardeners! It’s that time again. We need you to select your row and prepare your seeds for planting! We tilled the garden rows Saturday, April 16 at the Beautification Day! Make sure you get out to your row at least once a week to keep it weed free and watered. If anyone wants to take a row, please sign up on the garden diagram at the back table! You don’t need to commit to a full row if you’d prefer to keep things small there is the option to sign up for a half row.
If you do not have a green thumb but want to help with this ministry, please save your cardboard and donate some red mulch for the rest of the paths or some topsoil/clean fill dirt for the center three rows. These are the lowest of them all and are in need of more TLC!
If we all work together we will have a beautiful garden this year!
Linger Longer Luncheon ~ Sunday, May 22
Because of the Memorial Day weekend, we will meet May 22 instead of May 29.

Moderator and Vice-Moderator Moment
The Strategic Growth team has been hard at work since the congregational vote on January 31 that approved our name change to “Compass Christian Church.” Since that time we’ve been rolling out this change internally in a number of ways: with changes to our weekly bulletin and to the worship slides, (thanks to Katie B for the work on the latter). We’ve also made changes to our Facebook page, and as you’ve seen on page 1 our website has been redesigned as well (thanks to Mairi H’s extensive work on both of these). We’ve also been working for an external roll out with property signage, and are tying our post-VBS cookout on July 16 with an unveiling of our new sign. Great news! We’ve discovered not only that we are able to double the size of our existing sign, but we can add a sign to the corner of Fireside. Given the timeline of July and conversations with the City of Mason and a local sign company, a logo design was approved by the Board on May 10. You’ll see a rough draft of that above.
The color and design were chosen with the following in mind. The red of both the cross and the lettering of the word “Compass” ties in with the red of the Disciples of Christ chalice and cross of St. Andrew’s on the chalice. The color blue of the compass circle and directional points, plus “Christian Church” and “A Disciples of Christ community” ties in with the waters of this world through which we are passing. The yellow is the direction toward which the cross points, evoking sunrise, resurrection, kingdom of God, and New Jerusalem. Basically, we’re moving from the waters of the world in the direction of the cross toward God’s kingdom, tying in with our mural/voyage idea.
