“The Fruit of Faithfulness” (3 John 1:1-4, 11; Galatians 5:22) Sunday June 25, 2017
Call to Worship
L: God has planted within and among us the seed of the gospel.
P: And through baptism and the Holy Spirit irrigated it with living waters.
L: Parents and family, teachers and friends, pastors, counselors, and churches have each cultivated us.
P: Yet it was always God who gave the growth!
U: May the fruit of faithfulness ripen among us and be shared so others taste and see that the Lord is good!
Scripture (3 John 1:1-4, 11; Galatians 5:22)
Our first reading comes from the third letter of John.
1The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth.
2Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul.
3I was overjoyed when some of the friends arrived and testified to your faithfulness to the truth, namely how you walk in the truth.
4I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
11Beloved, do not imitate what is evil but imitate what is good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.
Our third reading comes from the letter to the Galatians.
22The fruit of the Spirit is faithfulness.
Here ends our readings. May God bless our understanding.
