“Go for the Gold” Scripture (1 Corinthians 9:24-27) Sunday Feb. 4, 2018
Call to Worship
L: The prize of the heavenly call beckons us onward.
P: Therefore we do not lose hope in this race before us.
L: Let us look to Jesus who blazed a trail before us, following in his wake.
P: He fought the good fight, kept the faith, and finished the race.
U: Let us run and not grow weary for a crown of glory awaits us!
Scripture (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)
Our reading comes from the first letter to the Corinthians.
24Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it.
25Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable one.
26So I do not run aimlessly, nor do I box as though beating the air;
27but I punish my body and enslave it, so that after proclaiming to others I myself should not be disqualified.
Here ends our reading. May God bless our understanding.

I run for my Maker
Each race I begin.
I run for my Maker ~
I run with the wind.
To run for my Maker
My burning desire.
To be for my Maker
A chariot of fire!
And all of my days
I’ll sing Your praise
In all that I do
And every step
along
the way
I run it for You.
I run for my Maker
Each race I begin.
I run for my Maker ~
I run with the wind.
To run for my Maker
My burning desire.
To be for my Maker
A chariot of fire!
And all of my days
I’ll sing Your praise
In all that I do
And every step
along
the way
I run it for You.
I run it for You.
